Bitcoin/Litecoin etc

25

Original thread gone?

Bitcoin back on the up today after a couple of days with very little movement.

Litecoin doing well still but down today a bit. It really needs gox to announce a date for thier trading engine to open, kinda in limbo at the mo it would seem

@leanne I havent looked into desktop/offline wallet software, is that something you are looking into?

I'd advise buying them back!

Any LTC left?

0 |

Sat on mine, thankfully.

Lots of people buy on local exchanges like localbitcoin etc. because they want to test it out. I think a gigantic proportion of anyone holding any coin started there, I know I did, didn't you?

People who just want to buy a couple of hundred quid (average purchase is about £100 on these sites btw) don't want to have to start sending passports and making int wire transfers to Hungary or Romania or a carribean island. Most exchanges have fairly high minimum deposit also.

prob because there are quite a few places to get the price from.

where is the best iyo?

0 |

Small time buyers that don't want to go to the hassle of joing an exchange. Its the same as buying currency from a bureau because you dont fancy playing the forex market..

0 |

Justim your best option is to buy privately from someone you know/have connections with. The local bitcoin/litecoins site seem to get good reviews but you'll pay a certain % commission

0 |

ive never used an exchange. didn't really look into it. seemed a bit complicated. didn't see a point, and didnt mind paying slightly more, as you say.

need to learn that shit. but the mt.gox thing kinda puts me off a bit.

better safe than sorry?

0 |

Gox had a ropey trading platform and paid the price, the market is better off without them. Wierd as a while back "ltc on gox" was the main drive for litecoins increase in value.

Getting money into the exchanges is the trickiest part. Bitstamp are prob the way to go. I have xoins on cryptsy but have never put gbp in to either.

they talk a lot about mixing there. is this just returning coins to those that request them from sites like MtGox while using all other coins for your own use? like with fractional reserve?

Genius idea by the creator(s) to be this 'elusive character'... constant news and media hype adding to the online presence and prominence of Bitcoin.

Great marketing prowess.
