Tall Ships - Impressions
Jesca Hoop - Memories are Now
The Shins - Heart Worms

Thought that Shins album was disappointing tbh. First two albums were great but subsequent releases nowhere near as good.

0 |

Agreed although i think there was a few good songs on that Broken Bells thing he did

1 |

Soulwax - From Deewee
Tennis - Yours Conditionally
The XX - I See You
Dirty Projectors - Dirty Projectors

0 |

Just started listening to the new Mount Eerie album which is probably the best thing I've listened to this year.

0 |

Kate Tempest - Let Them Eat Chaos
Grandaddy - Last Place
the new Ondotropica one - Baile something

0 |

New Elbow is good, if a bit elbowy. Can't wait for kendricks new one.

0 |

Looking forward to getting a listen to Conor Oberst new album.

Laura Marling definitely worth a mention

That ep by Cigarettes after Sex is class too.

Rtj3
Bonobo

0 |

RTJ3 was 2016 PJ.

0 |

Unkle new one in May.

0 |

By a week ffs

0 |

Quite liking the new Nathan Fake - Providence album.

0 |

Technically a 2016 album but havent seen it mentioned on the 2016 albums and been listening to it loads recently. Work Songs by Jaimeo Brown Transcendence - lay.spotify.com/album/...

0 |

Sticking to the 2016 theme Daire has cheekily to introduced, BJ the Chicago Kid's release last year was class

0 |

Want to add

Lenzman - Earth Tones

Liquid D&B

0 |

nice mm

0 |

Belfast born Liquid Funk/D&B Calibre - The Deep. Sublime.

0 |

Tune of the year so far.

How do you make a track like that then give the video responsibility to some wanky London hipster??

0 |

The tune is as dull as the video....a rehash of the 1980's and a dire one too. See Aztec Camera, Bluebells, The Bible, Orange Juice for better.

1 |

Or even Haircut 100 ffs

0 |

War on Drugs out today. Ian Felice's debut solo okay at first listen too.
Enjoy your weekend yiz

0 |

Widowspeak too, if you like War on Drugs - bit more stoned than them, but similarish vibes.

Listened to that new Bicep album a few times now. Keeps getting better with each listen. Quality stuff hey

Not enough new music recommendations on this forum.

Just downloaded the new National and Arcade Fire albums.

Any good, men?

Any other recommendations?

0 |

Foo fighters new album is alright.

Mohawk

0 |

Fuck

Mogwai - Every Country’s Sun. Brilliant.
Iron & Wine Epic Beast. Sounds like Elliot Smith and Cat Stevens.

0 |

Arcade fire album is terrible. Completely mediocre. National new one is ok, but more of the same. PRetty underwhelming. Hasn't been a lot of good albums this year.

1 |

From my perspective, I'd have to disagree, my picks:
Alvvays - Antisocialites
Mount Kimbie - Love What Survives
LCD Soundsystem - american dream
Big Thief - Capacity
The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
Grizzly Bear - Painted Ruins
Aldous Harding - Party
Julie Byrne - Not Even Happiness
Soulwax - FROM DEEWEE
Tennis - Yours Conditionally

Cigarettes after Sex Matthew?

0 |

Straight in no messing there. At least buy the guy a drink first.

0 |

Haha

0 |

Matthew., how do you find the time to listen to so much new stuff?

1 |

I find it really difficult to give new music a chance these days, it has to immediately grab me or I give up on it. I lustened to the LCD Soundsystem album last week twice and thought it was very underwhelming.

0 |

Same as that TJ. The thing is it usually takes me a good 2 or 3 listens to appreciate an album but theres not enough hours in the day to do all the shot I wanna do. Been listening to audiobooks and podcasts this last while too

1 |

That's over the course of the year Molo, so not too hard. Usually listen when I'm out walking the child or drvng somewhere.

1 |

Still pretty impressive. You use Spotify or what?

1 |

Any podcast recommdations Molo? Maybe run it past Kommandant Andy first as he might not approve of posting about podcasts in this thread.

*Recommendations*

0 |

I flit between loads TJ.

BBC ones are good, natural history, desert island discs, Kermode, Nolan, documentaries etc

Others Id recommend are:

The Smartest Man In The Room
No Such Thing As A Fish
An Irishman Abroad
Richard Herring
Joe Rogan
Stuff You Should Know

BBC also do a class section on Gerry Anderson called Remembering Gerry with loads of classic shows. Guy was a legendary broadcaster

PS, sorry Andy

1 |

Thanks, will check a few of those out.

I like the Richard Herring one myself. Also enjoy Adam Buxton's podcasts and Athletico Mince if you're a fan of Bob Mortimer.

0 |

Lol at “Still pretty impressive. You use Spotify or what?” He listened to 10 albums. You called someone teachers pet the other day? Lol

1 |

I bought the On The Air Gerry Anderson dvd a while back. As funny as anything on TV

some are remasters? :D

Did you hear Prins Thomas' Principe Del Norte zygote? Think it would be up your street

0 |

Been on a complete Vangelis binge myself these last few weeks.

0 |

Quite like Principle Del Norte indeed. I Love the remastered Vangelis stuff and keep meaning to get a grip on software to sequence some of this sort of stuff into a playlist but I always seem to get distracted by work.

0 |

Other than whats been mentioned above, the recent Floating Points and Spoon albums have been good. New Four tet out soon also.

0 |

That Big Thief record in particular is v good.

0 |

It's tremendous indeed. Liked their first album but this was a big step up.
