Sinn Féin getting fairly shown up here regarding this welfare reform farce. Seems like they've been caught out spoofing to their electorate and the facts about it are stacking up against them. IMO, it looks like that they've cooked this up to try and win votes from the vulnerable people who would be interested in the welfare reform (that they claim to be looking out for) and they've been caught out. It was either a lie, or they just got the facts and finances completely wrong. Either way their excuses reek of

This is why folks need to protest vote and vote Alliance or Green. It's clear the DUP and Sinn Féin aren't capable of being realistic in running the place. The DUP and their backward views, then Sinn Féin and their blatant spoofing. I don't understand why people cant see through it all.

I don't think I need to go in to reasons why the DUP shouldn't get any votes, but their views on equality is reason enough, alone. Sinn Féin make these wondrous claims to win votes (it would seem by preying on the vulnerable, in this case, and people who actually have real issues and shouldn't be used as political ammunition)... then you've got the stories of SF being involved in IRA sex abuse.

People need to use their vote to show that we don't want this nonsense any more. Stop the tribal nonsense and use your vote to damage these two main parties. It's the only way things will change.

people keep going on about they cant afford us etc, the brits can't either, there economy runs on debt too.

people get on like it's an utopia up here everyone rolling in it lol

Torys been slashing like fuck, no doubt the south prob would too but would there really be much difference. Im sure the brits would have to pay something towards here for a while to help the transition if it was to ever happen.

0 |

Theres bound to be group of Nordie haters who would vote no in a UI vote too. Like Irish RJs who call us foreigners. Dont want our civil servants coming down and taking their jabs.

0 |

So does America's barry, far more debt than UK but the fact UK and America have so much debt is reflective of how much money they generate.

Another thing that bothers me is the ongoing issue down south of direction of funds ignoring many areas and all being directed towards Dublin.

I do think it will have to be a slow and inclusive process that convinces everyone.

0 |

dufunk is ripping, lol.
I live in Gobnascale in Derry, far from Gallaigh. same as Andy and it's pretty unanimous up here too.

The polls don't tell the whole story obviously but i'm glad they're starting to blow away this notion that's been spouted the last few years in the media and from unionists, that most NI catholics are happy to remain in UK. It's simply untrue

Is there much documented research into how a united Ireland will benefit financially, with jobs, health, housing etc?

Here you go Muzka - rcg.com/wp-content/upl...

excuse me Clean there's only one fucking RJ

0 |

Cheers, dairebhoy. That's pretty much exactly what I was wanting :)

0 |

I tried reading through that the other day Muzka its a heavy read, it would need summed up for us non economic types

0 |

Northern Ireland has relatively low living standards, inward oriented industrial policies, high
levels of output in low value-added sectors, a small private sector, and an over-reliance on the
public sector. These weaknesses contribute to a productivity differential with the South of
Ireland, where 2011 Gross Value Added (GVA) per capita was 159% higher than in the North.

paints a lovely picture of us rednecks

0 |

The poll didn't surprise me Muzka allow the sentinel readers were hardly included, Strabane and derry is nationalist HQ in NI we all no that, you get a lot more people from the east who likely refer to themselves as neither unionist or nationalist even when it comes to religion than up here we are in the dark ages. What annoys me is instability when all this stuff comes up it just opens up a can of worms and drives the whole nationalist unionist political card when we are trying to move this place on.

0 |

Dufunk.. instability, can of worms.. sounds like Brexit. Figures out today suggest a 'dramatic deterioration' in economic activity in the UK, levels not seen since 2009 crisis. possibly heading back into recession

If anything a growing consensus would point to an all Ireland as part of the EU would offer the greater stability you're after.

I think you're living in alternate universe were the Alliance party run Stormont. you can have unionist/nationalist ideals and still 'move this place on' it's not a mutually exclusive arrangement

1 |

0 |

I agree with your last point but I don't see why so many see the brexit as some kind of pro uk unionist agenda there is to much paranoia on sein fein's part thinking that not being part of Europe means we are some how back to Westminster running everything. In terms of the economy the dip will happen before the negotiations anyway until everyone knows were we all stand.

It has major implications for the north dufunk given the important roll the European convention of human rights plays in the GFA. The UK's departure from the EU and their new Prime Minister's continued stance that the UK must leave the ECHR is very politically destabilising.

“The ECHR can bind the hands of parliament, adds nothing to our prosperity, makes us less secure by preventing the deportation of dangerous foreign nationals – and does nothing to change the attitudes of governments like Russia’s when it comes to human rights. So regardless of the EU referendum, my view is this: if we want to reform human rights laws in this country, it isn’t the EU we should leave but the ECHR and the jurisdiction of its court.” - Theresa May

Out de fuk of the ECHR as well

So basically 150 absolute fucking mongloids of the highest Irish order got together in a room to listen to redneck shite from a bygone era? Who the fuck supports these balloons? Go on admit it

0 |

Well seeing as they're "150" strong as you put it. I would presume there isn't much support at all RJ. They wield little or no political power and won't do in conceivable future scenario.

0 |

aye clearly a big party lol

they won't do shit at elections

0 |

Lol at this tweet from a stoop as his leader congratulated corbyn

0 |

Anyone else think Republicanism and Socialism are not compatible? I'm no expert on the issue, but I can stand Republicans...... or Corbyn for that matter. I also don't like Blairites. Where the fuck does that leave me?

0 |

Youre a Tory

0 |

I cant stand the liberals either. Actually, I hate all organized groups. I went to a local Liverpool Supporter Club meeting and decided they are all wankers.
