i'd love an american bulldog. but i think people should be gettin dogs out of dog pounds instead of spending hundreds on some pedigree they can use as a fashion accessory.

Always reminds me of Greyfriars Bobby.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

0 |

Aye, I always remember that story too... ever since I heard about it in Primary School.

0 |

You read the wiki link? Turns out it was made up to get people to come to Edinburgh.

0 |

Did you read the 'Revisionist view' on there Ryan...?...? :(

0 |

Why did you have to post up that link Ryan, WHY?!

0 |

LOL

On 25 September 2009, the BBC reported that the statue had undergone a form of 'vandalism'. Protestors against Donald Trump building a golf course had visited statues in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Stirling replacing the faces of the statues with that of Donald Trump, and in some cases, also attaching a set of toy golf clubs to the statue. The 'vandalism' to the statue of Greyfriars Bobby consisted of a face mask of Trump being placed over Bobby's face.

Ok, so are there any dog socialisation classes in Belfast? Preferably north. Not for puppies though, this brute is 4.

Greyfriars Bobby story was bullshit but the story of Hachiko really happened.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Heartbreak tings. I love dags.

0 |

I knew this story but you shouldn't have linked it up. Almost in tears :(

0 |

Oh wait, should've read earlier parts in the thread. Thought you were just trying to guilt me!

0 |

No way!

Anyone recommend any decent kennels? How much do these things generally cost as well?

0 |

Bout 8-10 quid a night usually - our dog fucking loves it tbh, craic must be 110 in there. If you have a big dog then you just have to accept it as it's too hard to get anyone to look after it.

0 |

Jesus I couldn't do that. My dogs are like my children even when we are in hospital. They go to either parents houses. If I put them in a kennel it would fuck them up mentally. And I can't have that.

0 |

Pfft nobody wants the melt of looking after a dog. Cheers takki will take a look at that now.

0 |

You not got family to look after your dog?

0 |

I would bury the wee fucker upto the waist and get myself a wheelbarrow and fill it with big stones.

0 |

Let it burn, too late for Rover

0 |

I'd probably run and get a fire blanket or just use my coat to extinguish the flames.

0 |

J-Lo, my friends use these kennels and say they're really good - www.riversideboardingk...

0 |

I would boot a child to death in the middle of the street, infront of his entire family, on his birthday, if I witnessed him set fire to a dog

0 |

Dear enough the auld kennels last time I checked some. Can't remember exact figures. You'd be better making friends with another dog owner and u can scratch each others backs and smell each others butts

I used to have a beagle called benson when i was 6 years old. we always wanted a beagle so tracked through the fields to a fox hunters yard and stole benson. lol Our father took him back and apologised but the hunter told my father we could keep him becasue he had no interest in chasing foxes. later on we discovered he loved the army and beside my house was a forest which they sometimes did training at. benson used to follow them back to the stations for miles and they spoilt him and returned him by helicopter many times. he traveled with them to dungannon, cookstown, and even as far a omagh 23miles away. he got lifts home in all 3 models of army helicopter (chinook, huey, wessex). i have photo of them landing in our front field. he was class dog, I used to tie him to my pedal trackor and he pulls me everywhere while the bro's cycled, also have photos of this. but one day there was a contaction of the royal family over in stewartstown opening some new buildings and the army were present and of course so was benson, and lord fuck face of somewhere in wales took him back to wales. :-(

beagle, the kennel will do him no harm.lol smells smells smells... he'll love it

Our dog won't stop going nuts everytime someone walks past the house, especially old people. I let him out the front to hang about but it's getting the point where I'll have to stop as he's going so crazy.

There is one old woman in particular that he goes mental at. She is a bit of a looper anyway but he gets so aggressive for no reason! Wtf? How do I stop him besides locking him away all the time :/

0 |

fed him the old people

0 |

Everytime he barks go out with a batin stick and bate the people walking past your house so that they eventually know to stay clear of the woman with the batin stick and your dog will no longer bark

0 |

Beat the fuck out of him with a rolled up newspaper or magazine every time he barks.

0 |

Put him in a bag with a breeze block and put him in the river for about 15 minutes. They usually know not to do it again then.

0 |

May come to the newspaper, or a farm somewhere. Can't understand why he hates old people though..

0 |

They say dogs reciprocate their owners actions

0 |

yea what ron says, have you tried knockin the shite out of him??? A hot poker aacross the back maybe

0 |

The old people probably smell of piss

0 |

You maybe need to get him out on the lead and around more people while you're there and every time he starts acting up you give him a serious scolding. He sounds like he is becoming defensive over his (your) property so you need to make sure that he knows you're the boss and if someone calls round or walks by, it's not his place to be concerned. Gotta get it sorted asap too as it will only get worse.

Grab a load of the Dog Whisperer shows and find the ones that have dogs with similar traits and get tips from there.

0 |

I do give him a scolding or drag him inside. Doesn't stop him though :/. He does it inside the house too btw and will sit at the windows all day, although I never let him do that anymore. Broke the blinds a few weeks ago ffs.

Do you mean sit with him on the lead while outside and pull him back everytime he starts acting up? I can def try that. Never thought about the dog whisperer thing either. Will have a look for those..

0 |

I've def seen dogs with the same traits on the dog whisperer and I have only seen a couple of episodes here and there. One was a dog which had got the same way, but inside the house as it was mainly a house dog (wee small shih tzu I think it was). It had got REALLY possessive over its area (the house) and very protective over it's owner... so basically anyone that came into the house it turned into a viscous wee shit. Thinking about it now actually, the dog whisperer did his usual thing and pushed out his chest/stood very powerfully etc and the dog began to behave... maybe your dog see's/senses the weakness in the older people and that's why he's like that towards them..?

0 |

My ex's dog was the exact same. A black & white jack russell with angry wee man syndrome. He used to go apeshit at the smallest noise and almost attack people when they tried to get up and leave the house, or anyone coming near the house. They got a behaviour expert out and he basically said the dog thought it was the boss of everyone else in the house because they treated it like one of the humans. There was no boundaries and they hadn't been asserting their authority. Basically as with any dog, it's so important to make sure they know you're the boss, and not them.

0 |

He's a hound so a pack dog and definitely tries to push his luck a lot. I've been trying really hard these past few months though to let him know he was the bottom of the pack. Maybe not working as well as I thought :/

Feck sake he's harder work than 2 kids!

0 |

aye Ryan... it's like that saying... treat a dog like a human and it'll treat you like a dog.

0 |

What sort of dog is he J-Lo?

0 |

Beagle. Great apart from the stubbornness, stupidity and overprotectiveness!

0 |

My old next door neighbour has two beagles and one of them is obsessed with eating it's own shit. They also have a deceptively deep bark for such a small dog!

0 |

Training dogs is straight-forward if you understand the pack mentality. Training cats is a lot more counter intuative
